Section 13

Right of grievance redressal

Gives the Data Principal a right to readily available grievance redressal, and makes exhausting it a precondition to approaching the Board.

Read this before you cite anything here

These pages are a plain-English restatement, written to help you find the right provision and understand what it asks of you. They are not the text of the statute, and nothing here should be quoted as though it were. Section and rule numbers are exact, and every page names its source.

What it says

(1)
The Data Principal has the right to readily available means of grievance redressal from the Data Fiduciary or Consent Manager.
(2)
The Data Fiduciary or Consent Manager must respond within the prescribed period.
(3)
The Data Principal must exhaust this mechanism before approaching the Board.

In practice

Rule 14(3) fixes the prescribed period at not more than ninety days. Sub-section (3) is the useful half for a business: a working grievance channel is what keeps a complaint out of the Board’s inbox, so the channel is a filter, not a formality.
